Traumatology and Orthopedic Department for Аdults

Trauma and Orthopedic Department for Adults is open since January 1982.

Department profile: surgical and conservative treatment of trauma patients using modern methods of extramedullary and intramedullary osteosynthesis in patients with complicated trauma (non-united fractures, pseudoathroses, osteomyelitis, postoperative sepsis).

The Department has 60 beds and is located on the 4th floor of the clinic. The Department has 17 wards including 6 superior wards (2 single and 4 double). There are two nurse posts, dressing rooms for clean and septic dressings and two manipulation plaster rooms, two bathrooms and the necessary sanitary facilities.

Main activities:

• Surgical treatment of diaphyseal fractures of long tubular bones of various localization using internal fixators:

  • osteosynthesis of diaphyseal fractures using interlocking nails;
  • osteosynthesis of diaphyseal fractures using plates (including compression, with limited contact, locked);
  • open osteosynthesis of diaphyseal fractures of the femur, tibia, fibula, humerus, radius, ulna with plates (including compression, with limited contact, locked).

• Surgical treatment of near-and intra-articular fractures of various localization using internal fixators:

  • osteosynthesis of fractures of the head, surgical and anatomical neck, shoulder tubercles with wires (with wire cerclage), screws (including cannulated), plates (including figured, locked);
  • osteosynthesis of distal fractures of the humerus, including supra- and intercondylar fractures, block fractures, capitellum, epicondyles of the humerus with plates (including reconstructive), screws, wires;
  • osteosynthesis of proximal fractures of the forearm bones, including the elbow and coronoid processes of the ulna, head and neck of the radial bone, including fractures of the forearm with plates, screws, wires, cerclage, endoprosthetic replacement of the head of the radial bone.
  • osteosynthesis of distal peri-and intra-articular fractures of the radial bone (including locked plates);
  • osteosynthesis of hip fractures, also in combination with valgus osteotomy, PFNA, dynamic hip screws, angular blade plates, cannulated screws;
  • osteosynthesis, including minimally invasive, of distal fractures of the femur using dynamic condylar screws, angular blades, locked and compressive plates;
  • osteosynthesis, including minimally invasive, of proximal tibia fractures using cannulated screws, figured, locked plates, also in combination with bone grafting;
  • osteosynthesis of patella fractures, including multifragmentary fractures and tearing of the patella apex;
  • osteosynthesis distal tibia with cannulated screws, figured, locked plates, also in combination with bone grafting;
  • osteosynthesis of ankle fractures, reconstruction of the distal tibiofibral syndesmosis, deltoid ligament with plates, screws, wires;
  • osteosynthesis of calcaneal fractures, including intraarticular with plates (including reconstructive figured locked), wires;
  • osteosynthesis of talus fractures using cannulated screws;
  • osteosynthesis of metatarsal and tarsal bones with screws and wires.

• External fixation of open and complicated fractures of various localization.

• Total hip replacement: cementless and cemented fixation, unipolar and bipolar endoprosthetics for fractures, avascular necrosis of the femoral head.

Open reduction of unreducible and chronic dislocations, including dislocations of the acromional and sternal ends of the clavicle (in combination with ligament plasty), dislocations and fractures of the shoulder, forearm, hip, tibia, foot (including dislocations in the pelvic joint, Chopard and Lisfranc joints) including in combination with osteosynthesis, transarticular fixation of the needles.

• Suture, reinsertion and plastic surgery of tendons and ligaments, including the tendons of biceps and triceps muscles of the shoulder, the two- and four-headed muscles of the thigh, Achilles tendon, deltoid ligament, etc.

• Surgical treatment of pseudoarthroses, malunited fractures, bone defects of various localization (including corrective osteotomies, decortication, bone grafting, Ilizarov compression-distraction osteosynthesis, etc.). Arthrodesis of the joints (knee, ankle).

• Surgical treatment of chronic osteomyelitis and infected non-unions of various localization in combination with bone defects, skin and soft tissue defects, post-traumatic arthrosis, etc.

Surgical treatment of deep periprosthetic infection using single- or two-stage replacement.

• Surgical treatment of chronic bursitis.

• Resection of exostoses, removal of ossification of various localization.

• Amputations of various limb segments, including reamputation.

• Removal of metal hardware.
