The National Applied Research Centre for Traumatology and Orthopedics is the leading research and treatment institution in the field of expert orthopedics and injury treatment in Belarus.

The Centre includes research units and wards that provide a whole range of specialised medical care both for children and adults suffering from bone and articulation diseases or injuries, acute and complicated traumas, vertebral diseases and injuries, as well as osseous growths and arthronci.
The Centre has state of the art high-tech diagnostic and remedial facilities.

The Centre for Traumatology and Orthopedics performs the following types of complex and high-tech surgery:
• total hip and knee replacement (THR and TKR), including the cases of rheumatic arthritis, neoplastic processes, and defects of the acertabulum;
• surgery of degenerative-dystrophic and congenital hip diseases;
• knee, shoulder, ankle and elbow arthroscopy;
• surgery of acute and complicated orthopedic traumas, including those requiring various types of intramedullary fixation, extra-cortical ostheosyn-thesis, and external fixation devices;
• surgery and nonsurgical treatment of scoliosis and other spinal deformities;
• surgery of chest distortions in children and adolescents;
• management of limb shortening and other congenital and acquired orthopedic disorders in children;
• reparative surgery for patients with hip patholo¬gies, including congenital dislocated hip;
• surgery of spinal traumas and diseases, including new growths;
• decompressive and stabilising surgery for patients with spinal traumas and diseases at all levels.

The Centre offers:
• global standard high-tech CT and MRT scans, as well as brain, spine, bones and joints X-rays by qualified medical staff using state-of-the-art equipment, with digitised test reports;
• arthrosonography and sonography of internal parts of the body;
• laboratory tests.
The Centre's consultative and outpatient department offers consultations by the following specialists:
• orthopedic traumatologist for adults;
• orthopedic traumatologist for children;
• neurosurgeon specialising in spinal cord pathologies;
• neurosurgeon for children.
Neurosurgeons consult patients suffering from the after-effects of spinal traumas; deformity of all the regions of the vertebral column, including those with neurological disorders; new growths and aggressive lesions in all the regions of the vertebral column; stenoses and hernias of intervertebral disks in the cervical and thoracic spine; spondylolistheses and instability of the lumbar spine segments.

The Centre offers postgraduate studies, clinical residency and work placement in all areas of children´s and adults traumatology, orthopedics and spinal neurosurgery to foreign nationals on a paid basis.
